Most recently, we expanded into the United States through a strategic acquisition in November 2025, adding Eccom capabilities and representing an incremental $8M+ in annual revenue, further strengthening our North American platform and growth trajectory.
Who we need
Genuine Comfort is a market leader in PTAC and room air distribution for the hospitality industry, headquartered in Markham, Ontario. With approximately 25 employees and $35M in revenue, the business is on a clear trajectory to double in size by 2028.
We are hiring a Vice President, Finance to lead the next phase of growth and increasing operational and financial complexity.
As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will lead the company’s financial strategy and ensure it directly enables scalable growth, strong profitability, and disciplined capital deployment. Beyond traditional stewardship, you will position Finance as a forward-looking decision engine that shapes strategy, drives performance, and enhances enterprise value.
You are both a strategic architect and a hands-on operator - someone who builds and runs the financial engine of the business, not just oversees it. You bring structure, insight, and accountability into how decisions are made across the organization.
Reporting to the President, you will provide the financial leadership to guide critical business decisions, optimize cash flow, and evaluate growth opportunities. You will oversee the accounting function while driving a stronger focus on FP&A, performance intelligence, and capital strategy.
This is a high-impact leadership role for a finance executive who thrives in a growth environment and operates as a true partner at the executive table - shaping both day-to-day performance and long-term strategy.
This role requires working on-site in our Winnipeg office four days per week with the option to work remotely one day per week.
What's in it for you
A true executive leadership mandate. This is more than a traditional VP Finance role. You will operate as a key member of the executive team, acting as a trusted partner to the President shaping strategy, influencing capital allocation, and ensuring financial discipline is embedded in how the business grows and scales.
A clear path to CFO. This role is explicitly structured as the CFO succession path. You gain exposure to enterprise strategy, capital structure, banking relationships, acquisitions, and long-term value creation in a growing multi-entity business.
Direct impact on growth and value creation. You will play a central role in scaling the business from ~$35M to $100M+, with clear accountability for EBITDA expansion, cash flow performance, and working capital efficiency. Your impact is visible in how the business allocates capital and captures margin.
Full North American scope from a local base. While based in a close-knit team environment, your impact will extend across Canada and into the United States. You will gain exposure to cross-border growth, expansion strategy, and operational scaling, without the constraints of a highly layered corporate structure.
Ownership, visibility, and autonomy. You will operate in a highly visible role with direct access to leadership and the ability to influence outcomes quickly. You will lead and elevate a high-performing finance team, strengthen cross-functional alignment, and position Finance as a strategic driver of business performance.
As our VP, Finance, you:
- Lead financial strategy and enterprise value creation. You act as a trusted advisor to the President and executive team, translating business strategy into financial outcomes that maximize EBITDA, cash flow, and enterprise value. You own integrated 3–5 year planning, anchored in key value creation levers including revenue growth, margin expansion and capital efficiency. You pressure-test assumptions, quantify trade-offs, and shape strategic direction through a disciplined capital allocation lens. You evaluate strategic initiatives including acquisitions, partnerships, and expansion opportunities, defining clear investment theses, return thresholds (IRR, ROIC), and value creation timelines. You frame enterprise decisions across pricing, hiring, product investment, and market expansion through a financial and returns-based lens, ensuring capital is consistently directed toward the highest-impact opportunities.
- Build and lead a value-focused FP&A function. You own the company’s planning and performance management discipline. You lead the annual budget and rolling 12–18 month forecast, with clear accountability to EBITDA, cash flow, and working capital targets. You define and implement value-based KPIs (e.g., gross margin expansion, contribution margin, cash conversion, ROIC) and embed them into executive reporting and operating rhythms. You deliver clear, actionable insights through variance and performance analysis that identify true business drivers and quantify risks and opportunities. You lead structured performance reviews that drive accountability, corrective action and continuous improvement, while shaping and tracking profit improvement initiatives with clear EBITDA impact.
- Own cash flow, liquidity, and capital efficiency. You manage liquidity planning, including short- and long-term cash forecasts, with a mandate to maximize free cash flow. You optimize working capital across inventory, receivables, and payables, driving measurable improvements in DSO, DPO, and inventory turns through cross-functional leadership. You manage banking and capital relationships, oversee credit facilities and covenant compliance, and support financing or growth capital initiatives. You continuously evaluate capital structure decisions to reduce cost of capital and strengthen financial flexibility for growth.
- Drive profitable growth and margin expansion. You partner with business leaders to analyze product, customer, and channel performance, establishing profitability visibility at a granular level. You shape pricing strategy, evaluate supplier economics, and identify margin optimization opportunities across the business. You lead margin expansion initiatives across pricing, cost structure, and mix optimization, with clear financial targets. You partner with operations to deliver cost reduction and productivity gains, tracking realized savings and impact on EBITDA. You ensure all growth initiatives meet defined return thresholds and contribute directly to enterprise value creation.
- Build scalable infrastructure to support growth and valuation. You ensure financial and operational data integrity across systems and establish a single source of truth for decision-making. You partner with operations on ERP and system optimization, improving data visibility, automation and reporting efficiency. You build scalable financial infrastructure that supports lender,
investor, and potential transaction requirements. - Establish and own financial discipline, governance, and readiness for scale or transaction. You lead and elevate a high-performing finance team and position Finance as a proactive, value-oriented business partner. You own the Accounting function, ensuring accurate, timely reporting, strong internal controls, and audit readiness while enforcing disciplined monthly close processes. You strengthen governance, reporting, and control frameworks that support a business operating at scale and ready for external investment or transaction. You ensure the organization remains perpetually transaction-ready, with clean financials, well-defined metrics, and defensible performance narratives. You own oversight of audits, tax compliance, and regulatory requirements, ensuring full compliance across all obligations.
You bring:
- Proven executive finance leadership. You have experience as a VP Finance, Director of Finance, Controller, or similar senior leader within a mid-sized, product, manufacturing, or distribution-focused business. You are comfortable operating as a strategic partner to the President while remaining hands-on in execution. You thrive in environments where finance is expected to influence real-time decisions and drive business performance, not just report results.
- Financial discipline, governance, and analytical expertise. You have a strong foundation in accounting, reporting, and controls, with experience overseeing audits, compliance, and scalable financial processes. You bring deep expertise across FP&A, financial modelling, and performance analysis, with a strong command of EBITDA drivers, cash flow forecasting, and working capital dynamics in inventory-driven environments. You translate financial complexity into clear business decisions.
- Independent mindset and decision-making courage. You are an objective, fact-based leader who is comfortable challenging assumptions, escalating risks, and holding the business accountable to financial discipline. You require data-backed justification for investments and trade-offs, and you bring forward clear recommendations that influence direction and outcomes.
- People leadership and team development. You have experience leading and developing finance teams, driving performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. You lead by example, foster a collaborative and transparent environment, and invest in the growth of your team. You are a strategic coach who builds capability, strengthens bench strength, and elevates the overall function.
- Operational and cross-functional impact. You bring a deep understanding of how finance connects to operations, supply chain, and commercial functions. You have a track record of improving profitability through pricing, cost optimization, and operational efficiency. You operate as a true business partner, embedding yourself across departments, influencing decisions, and driving measurable results aligned to company growth objectives.
- Executive presence and communication. You communicate financial insights with clarity and impact. You build credibility with executive leadership, lenders, and stakeholders, and you are effective in influencing decisions, aligning teams, and removing roadblocks to execution.
- Technical capability. You are comfortable working with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, and data analytics platforms, leveraging technology to improve visibility, efficiency, and decision-making. You have experience driving system improvements, automation, and scalable reporting infrastructure to support a growing organization.
